I often get asked whether it’s a clever idea to have a combi boiler installed in a loft or roof space
And in my opinion yes, it’s a fantastic location, it doesn’t take up that precious space in your kitchen or making noise in the corner of your bedroom, although it does have its downside
The number one problem with combi boilers is pressure or should I say lack of its combi boilers work under pressure and have a built-in pressure sensor which will turn off your boiler if you have low pressure within the heating side of your system several factors can cause this issue from air in the system to a tiny weep on a radiator that’s untraceable to the eye.
What I always do as standard on every combi boiler installation is to install a filling loop and pressure gauge downstairs so this can easily be checked and refilled by the customer, so you don’t need to get the loft ladder out to check
Look at the image below to understand a bit better as to what I mean this was taken on a recent combi boiler installation
And remember to always use a gas safe registered engineer it's so easy to check online now they also have an image of the engineer, so you know the engineer working in your home is on the gas safe register
